2) Zombie Bike Ride
A zombie invasion takes place every October in Key West! The annual Zombie Bike Ride attracts more than 7,500 costumed zombies on two wheels each fall. Taking place the third Sunday in October, the ride follows a route spanning from Fort East Martello at 3501 South Roosevelt Blvd to downtown Key West.
Attendees gather at Zombieland in Fort East Martello starting at 2 p.m. to get revved up. The event includes body painting, food vendors, a full bar, and a kid zone with bounce houses.
While the ride is going on, revelers can head to the free Zombiefest Dance Party at the Coffee Butler Amphitheater presented by Rams Head. Following the ride, attendees gather at Duval Street for the official Zombie Street Party.
Good To Know: Thinking of riding? Starting at sunset, the 4-mile bike route takes a leisurely pace down U.S. 1 along the Atlantic Ocean. A police escort leads the ride. All riders must pay the $10 registration fee.
3) The Famous Pet Masquerade
Calling all animal lovers! The Famous Pet Masquerade Event challenges pet owners to find the purrfect outfit for their frisky pets. Expect to see dogs, cats, turtles, and every other kind of four-legged, slithering, or winged pet you can imagine during this fun, feel-good event that’s part of Fantasy Fest.
Bringing along a pet you want to dress to impress? While the Famous Pet Masquerade Event is free to watch, participants pay a $25 entry fee. Prizes will be awarded for the judging categories of best pet-owner combo, most exotic, best theme adaptation, and best overall.
Good To Know: This event takes place at Key West Amphitheater in Truman Waterfront Park. All proceeds benefit the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Farm.

6) The Fantasy Fest Parade
Featuring more than 50 decorated floats gliding through parts of Old Town and Duval Street, the annual parade is a must-see experience! More than 70,000 onlookers show up each year to watch the parade roll by.
Expect to see ornate costumes, darkly glittering floats, and local talent dancing and singing. The fun part about this parade is that it kicks off at 7 p.m. The Fantasy Fest Parade always takes place just before Halloween on the last Saturday of Fantasy Fest.
Good To Know: While the parade is an event for all ages, the after-party events feature games and performances that are generally intended for adults only.
7) Fantasy Facade Contest
Key West hosts a costume contest just for homes and buildings! Each year, a theme is announced that encourages local homeowners and business owners to dress up their real estate in spooky, otherworldly decorations to win prizes! For 2025, the theme is “Bedtime Stories & Magical Monsters.”
